Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca was pleased with his team’s performance and insisted it was a deserved win after beating Leicester 2-1.
“It was a good performance. Overall we deserved to win. It was a good game from which we learned a lot.”
“In the first 30 minutes we were in complete control of the game, then we started to make mistakes and lose control a bit. In the last 10 minutes of the first half we started to lose our composure a bit. This is what we can learn from, in football you can never drop down.”
On Nicolas Jackson: “Since we started he’s been brilliant. Everyone might look at the goals and the assists but the way he works off the ball and presses, he’s brilliant.”
“We are very happy with the way Nico is playing on the ball but especially in the way he is playing off the ball – the way he is pressing. In this moment, we are very happy and we are sure he is going to get better game after game.”
On Enzo Fernandez: “Enzo has been great UFABET since we started. The plan is to get a different type of player every day. Today was a game for Enzo.”
“Today I thought was the right game to use Enzo even if he was back from international duty [late]. I think he did very well. I’m trying to convince Enzo in the same way as I did last year with Ndidi and Kiernan [Dewsbury-Hall] that attacking midfielders need to arrive in the box. The reason why he scored today was because he was inside the box and if he was outside of the box, he wouldn’t have scored the goal. We are happy in the way Enzo is doing.”
Speaking about facing his old club Leicester, he said: “It’s nice to see old friends and good people.”
