Barcelona evaluating signing of young Colombian striker

Colombia U20 striker Néiser Villarreal of Millonarios Bogota is a target for Barcelona.

Barcelona are considering a deal for Colombia Under-20 international forward Naser Villarreal, potentially for a low fee due to his contractual situation with Minarios Bogota, with the Blaugrana sporting director Anderson Deco evaluating the deal.

They are now reportedly interest in 19-year-old striker Villarreal from Minorios Bogota. 

Villarreal’s contract is due to expire at the end of 2025 and the player has so far rejected fresh offers from the club, with Ufabet Sport claiming the 19-year-old could leave this summer for around €3m or become a free agent at the end of the year. Although Mijonarios Bogota have accepted a €4m offer from Vasdo da Gama, the player’s agent has ruled out negotiating with non-European clubs.

However, Villarreal are also attracting interest from a number of clubs, including Porto, Newcastle and Watford, with Deco assessing whether the club will make a move for the 19-year-old forward. 

While he is still not the finish article, Villarreal has been note for his ability to score, his shooting accuracy with his right, and his tactic adaptability.

At the moment, the plan would be to sign him for Barça Atlètic, and let him develop over time, including with a loan if necessary.
